I'm standing with teachers.
Hi, I’m Barrett Rothe and I’m running to represent Highlands Ranch in the Colorado legislature.
On Thursday and Friday this week, teachers from around Colorado will be taking time off to go to the state capitol. Teachers are going to raise awareness about Colorado’s dismal investments in public education. I’m reaching out to teachers and parents to let you know I’ll be standing with them.
As the grandson of a civics teacher in Oklahoma I was instilled with a tremendous respect for teachers and a love for our country’s values.
The people who educate our children should be paid a professional wage, they should not have to pay for classroom supplies out of their own pocket, they should not be compelled to carry a gun to teach 7th grade social studies, and they should not be threatened with jail time for exercising the freedoms we hold dear.
We can do much, much better than this.
With that in mind I’m asking all of you, no matter where you live, to find who is running to represent you in the legislature and get involved in their campaign.
Together we can make sure teachers can stay in the classroom next year, they should not have to march to get our attention.
Thank you for reading, and for those of you going to the capitol good luck and I’ll see you there!
